I’m wanting to stack rocks for nooks and crannies for my Synodontis Lucippinis “Dwarf Petricola “ in my 40 Breeder but I don’t want to bust the glass bottom.

Are there any tips to prevent this?

Hello; Perhaps the better tip is do not stack rocks. If you must stack find some way to secure the upper rocks. If one falls off the stack the impact can and has burst a glass bottom.
It is true a bottom glass can hold extra weight. I put four to six inches of gravel on the bottom of tanks. Considerable weight but spread out with no sharper points.
I do not know the specific answer for your question.

U can put something on the bottom to prevent rocks from falling or cracking the glass. People use egg crates on the bottom befor3 stacking or adding huge rocks.

I use egg crate under my stacked rocks. I've done fresh and salt tanks the same. Typically if the rocks wedge together well and no large or boisterous fish it should be fine. I have used reef epoxy and also pond foam to help secure the rocks to each other also.

That's about 150lbs of lava rock in a 125 for Tanganyika tank. I used black pond foam to help fill gaps and secure rocks. Probably didn't need it but I did get some fronts that will get fairly large in here before I move them to a larger tank.

Egg crate is also called lighting diffuser. You can get it from most big box hardware stores.
Hope this is helpful.
