I have been looking all over and haven't had any luck finding ANY good ones ... I don't care if I have to drive an hour to get there ... Let me know if anyone knows of any
 
Since Nemo's disappeared and then Beldt's went out of business shortly thereafter, its been slim pickins as far as fish stores in our area. I live in Godfrey and used to drive all the way to Pontoon Beach just for Nemo's before their fire.

Anyway, right now the best fish store is Tropical World Pets on Watson Rd. If you know of any other places, let us know. Here's a good thread for you to read:

Just saw that you posted in that forum I linked, so you've seen it.
That thread also mentions Aqua-World. There's one on Gravois and one on Manchester. I've never been to either, but I'll definitely be checking them out soon.
 
I live in Carlinville which is like hour away 50 minutes away from Granite City and not to far from Godfrey.....I was in Springfield today and found a store called "The Fish Man"...www.fishmanpetcenter.net
I have been on the lookout for one lately too..I emailed the store above and havent had a response yet sent it about 2 hours ago xD
If either of you find one please say something! :)
 
Thanks for the responces everyone I am still on the look out for a Good LFS, I know there are alot of hobbyist around our area so there has to be some good ones around lol .

I stopped doing business with TWP do to basically they was rude to me , and a long story that I won't get into on here cause I want the thread to stay alive for all of us!

I really like Ordering fish cause they are top notch fish but I hate paying that much for shipping , but sometimes you just have to grin and bear it ....
 
Drive up to NW Chicago burb for the Gcca swap meet sometimes, its a hike but you will see how cheap they are, most are locally breed. Good luck in your search tho.
 
Ya..There is a African Cichlid breeder in Lincoln, Illinois..He breeds just about every African cichlid xD..Also there is fish store in Fairview Heights, Illinois!
 
Just went to both Aqua World locations in st louis tonight. They were both pretty clean and had a good selection. However, their prices were sky-high. Literally everything was at least 50% more expensive than anywhere else I've been. So, Tropical World Pets is still the best place in the area with Aqua World being a close second only because of price. For example, the Aqua World on Manchester was selling an Eheim 2180 for 900 dollars. That's 100% markup right there.
 
Went to fishman pet store today! The place was very nice he has lots of fish and reptiles, etc. Carries supplies, tanks, decor...His fish are all healthy, the staff are nice, and lots of variety. He has saltwater and freshwater, he has lionfish - just about any cichlid
