i was in my LPS and they have a blue arowana and it looks like a silver arowana. is there such a thing?

yes

they only get to about 28" instead of 36"+ and are also known as black arowana because ythey are black when babies
:)

The blue arowana is a different species then the silver arowana. It is more commonly known as the Black arowana, Black aros have a blue tint to their fins so there has been a trend towards calling it a blue. I am not sure of this because my black is still only 14" but I beleive the blue fades with age.

okay thanks. is a 2 yr old one thats about 24" worth $299?

they are black arowana... at least thats how they where first classified. they do have a blue/turquoise tint to their fins, grow slightly slower and smaller than silvers but are closely linked to silvers. both from the amazon. Blacks are still all wild caught so, it's very rare for blacks to get drop eye too, whch is a bonus! Carefull though lfs calling blacks blue's tend to sell for twice the price... so check the price first if you are considering...

hmm... i'd personally think that is top end of what you would pay... make sure its a sweet specimen then snap their hand off at the offer! from my likl knowledge of the us fish market their are rocking horse **** but stuck the otherside of the pond im not 100%....
