Right now my 500 gal tank is filtered with a 75 and 50 gallon tank connected together filled with bio and a filter sock as my sump. My problems with this is that my sump sits on the side of ny tank (not under) and is an eye sore, and the gurgling noise is loud. Is there any way to avoid the whole sump idea in general? I know they have the sand filters but you still need a pre filter correct? My tank has 2 floor drains as well so the best set up if it were possible would be to have it go straight from the drain or overflow directly into the pressurized sand filter then to the pump and back to the tank... does anyone have ideas or links to making this close to possible? I have always been a sump guy but my stand is only 20 inches tall on this tank and I don't like my filtration off to the side.. :/

That 20 inch stand is a problem. An Ultima II 1000 is 22" high....

Can the tank be moved away from the wall so that you can have filtration behind the tank? Our 300 gallon tank is at the end of the room. We've got a wet/dry filter and an FX-5 sitting on the floor behind the tank.

Who trusts check valves on their tank? What if I kept my 75gtank and only used it as a pre filter/ and a place to level out the water. And then went to a sand filter? Id just have to check valve all my drain pipes but it shouldn't be a big deal and will keep the 75 gallon from over flowing

I'm assuming you're using gravity to feed the sump so a standard check valve won't work. You will probably need a electrical check valve that is normally open and when the power goes out it will close.
The glass filter is not on the website. You're looking at the wrong one. Glass filter is $500 complete.

what i did on my 270g was when i got the setup i got the stand and took one side out.
then i put a 120g tank inside the stand and put it back together and repainted it...
this way i could still run a big sump and still have it inside of the stand. as for the holes
i had the same thing but they were on the back bottom not directly on the bottom...
anyways i capped the holes with plastic screens so fish wont get sucked into the sump
then ran a closed loop system and it worked great. hope this could be of a little help.
not good in explaining things... lol

Have the same problem with my 200 stand is low so making a shallow sump like 15 inches tall. 20 in wide and lik 4 feet still in the process
