On a serious note, occasionally when there is a bright flash...like switching from MFK to google (in a dark room) I see red for half a second. I don't know if this is just random luck that I'm blinking, or if its a serious medical condition.

It happened once today, 3 times yesterday (one time when a light went out and the other bulbs flickered and twice on my computer) and a few times before.

My family has no history of epilepsy, and I play DDR/guitarhero/video games a fair amount, (well not in the last few months but still). I've also been in rooms with strobe lights and have never had this happen.

And, there seems to be no issue with alertness, control of my body, or anything afterwards just an awareness that for 1/2 a second i saw red.

:nilly:

Someone had a few too many shots of espresso.......

Seriously though you sound like your just blinking when screens transition. The red is more then likely due to the blood in your eye lids, which are thin, so it can appear red. I would only be worried if you woke up on the floor like three hours later with a hooker. Or if you just had significant lapses in time you could not explain.

FYI I am not a professional in diagnosing. I am just an emrgency medical technician for now, so all I can really tell you is if you are missing a leg or not.

I do not think you have a serious medical condition. Most likely a special sensitivity to light and changes in dramatic changes in light. Migraine sufferers have a lot of the same symptoms.

That too.

I get migraines (have now for 14 years) and I am quite photosensitive within about 2 hours of an incoming migraine. Also called an "aura"

The reason is this. Your eyes see the opposite color of what its been staring at for awhile. I believe its an optical reflex for better vision, Like if your staring at red too long your eyes will see a green to help cancel out some of the red. Just a theory.

Heres the link. I didnt embed it because you have to go to youtube to watch it in fullscreen. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7knnO4vKgXg
You have to stare for 30 seconds. Dont worry nothing jumps out.
