Is there a gar I can keep in a 90 gallon

So I'm going to be getting a stingray and ima be keeping it in a 90 for a few years then eventually upgrading and I heard friendlier gars are pretty good tank Mates.
Also would the gar get along with 3-4 sevrums?

Theres no gar that I'm aware of that can stay in a 90 for life. smaller gar-like characins may be an option but I'm not super familiar with most of those species.

That just made my morning. For one you live in Florida. Can't keep freshwater rays in Florida. And your tank is way to small for either fish.

What are the dimensions of your tank? Yeah from what I can tell don't keep either of those fish with that volume of water

Good luck. I would not advise cichlids and gar EVER.

You can hear many claim that this combo has worked for them, but if you take ANY serious gar keepers advise NO, NO & HECK NO!!!

Don't ask if you don't want to hear honest answers.

I noticed the upgrade tank within a "few" years. I utterly despise the dog gone volume gestapo often rearing their ugly tendrils here! If you go into this however, make sure that you understand that the period for this grow-out 90 gallon tank is going to be 2 year absolute max and that given that you are planning on purchasing YOY specimens.

DO NOT DO THIS if you are NOT 100% certain that an upgrade to at least TWICE the current 90G tank will take place for your two YOY's is in your future, and you should be OK.

IMO you have a great combination of a bottom and a mid water column tank predators.

Teacup stingray and I know someone who has kept them in a 75 for a couple of years and they both won't be there for life. I guess I'm looking for a slow growing gar. I have a 180 for them but I currently have other fishes that will be put into my pond when I'm ready to upgrade the ray.

I think any ray needs a foot print of at least 8x4 feet.

I don't think the 90 will last two years. They grow too quickly. A ray might survive in a 90, but thats not a life it will enjoy living. Just upgrade now if you want bigger fish. Acquire your pieces one by one if you have to, and skim clist daily. 90 is going to be way too small for anything but a brief grow out tank.

The 180 won't last long either. I just upgraded to a 300. I doubt I will feel comfortable about keeping them in it for more than two years.

There are no slow growing gar.
