I put an 8 inch jag in with my 13 inch pbass and 18 inch pacus. At night the jag would sneak up behind the bass and munch their fins. Didnt mess with the pacus though. I brought the jag to my favorite fish store and in 5 minutes another guy traded 3 good sized red devils for him.

I'm surprised that no one has asked what size tank we are talking about here. The larger the tank the better the chance of keeping these two species together harmoniously. In my 200, my oscars and pbass have enough space to keep out of each others way. And if either feels the other is too close, they give em a little bump and all is good after that. So if you are talking about keeping them together in something like an 80 gallon tank, then I doubt that it will work. But if you have something in the range of a 180 or bigger, then you may have a chance. And if you don't have that kind of space, then you should probably stay away from pbass period since they really don't start to show their best colors until they hit the 10"-12" mark.
