As the thread states is there a sand whiter than torpedo by caribsea and still heavy enough not to get blown away... Also how many lbs of sand would be needed to adequately cover a 600 gallon tank.

I have torpedo in my pentair 600....personally I don't like using a lot of substrate especially in large tanks....makes maintenance a lot easier..... how deep of a sand bed did u want?....
I would go with 200lbs that should give you a 1/4 to 1/2 inch bed

I have torpedo beach in all my Tanks. I use the 1lb for every gallon rule. But every has their own preferences.
Now I understand a bare bottom tank is far easier to clean but how much more work is it have a inch of sand all around? It looks like I will have to go bare bottom due to the high flow rate. If I position all my drains and returns on the same side of the tank would that create too much of an undertow on the opposite side 8 feet away?
