so a buddy has a vieja pair that breeds now and then and he has a hard time getting rid of the fry as not many people in the area know about them and not many have the correct setup.is it okay to leave in the fry with the parents and let them do their thing ? and maybe use the ones that survive as feeders for aros and bichirs? he wants to keep the bair together but dosent want fry .. is there a way to achieve this? maybe colder temps??

Are these the mutt melanurus, fenestratus fry?
I would use them all as feeders,.
Trying to sell them in a store could perpetuate a line of illegitimate species for generations,, further muddying the non-answerable and constant plague of Vieja ID confusion for years.

Reduction in feeding will help stop conditioning the parents for breeding. Keep temps in the lows 70s too. Feed lightly for one day a week, like 1 6mm pellet each. Put rock out in the sun or light bulb with a bucket of water and grow green algae on them, then place in the tank for them to feed on the rest of the week

Yup those are mutts . So i suggested him to leave them be in the tank. And the ones that survive could be used as feeders

Yeah so less feeding and low temps could do the trick.
