Is there any danger when using repti-carpet?

Yes, I'm really not a fan of it. The manufacturer (Zoomed?) claims it's claw safe, but accidents can happen. Depending on the type of lizard there's better options, from mulch to dirt to paper.

In my opinion it's more trouble than it's worth. To clean it you have to run it through the washing machine, meaning you must have more than one so you can change them out. I rather go for paper towels or newspaper. If you don't think that looks nice, then tile (the textured kind).

Do they have textured tiles that look like sand (desert)? What about the seams between the tiles? How do you clean a tile cage?

You can look it up on some other reptile forums. You will just have to go to your local Home Depot and see what they have as far as colors go. As for in between the seams I've seen it done many different ways. I've seen people silicone the tiles to the bottom and put silicone between them. I have also seem people use regular tile grout. I have seen people mix sand into the silicone. I have also seen it where the tiles can actually be removed. You would clean it just like anything else really. When I did this type of cage bottom, I had siliconed mine to the bottom and silicone in between the tiles I would just take out the decor and use a 10-1 water-vinegar mix and wipe down the cage. Also tile retains heat very well.

Here's a picture I found on google as an example of a setup with tile

Also I noticed my beadies claws weren't as sharp after putting her on tile and their wasn't a risk of impaction from ingesting substrate :)
