Hello all. I have a 55 gal (standard). Planted /temp 76 F /ph 7.2 / weekly WC current inhabitants- mated pair Angels & 5 Flame tetras. Future additions 10 more Flames, BN pleco & 5 Bolivian Rams. I love loaches but was going for all South American fish. I now have snails (I think Malayan). Plucking them seems to be like grey hairs-2 more in their place. I have read the stickies, I dont want loaches just for snails. But if I deviate from SA I want snail control. They are leaving holes in my plants. From what Ive read thru searches & stickies, my only option would be the Zebra loach. Any suggestions? Would the Zebra even work? I want all of my fish to thrive & show as close to natural behavior as possible. I was thinking of a group of 4-6. I have a feeling that mixing fish from different regions would inhibit natural behavior. But let me know if I'm wrong. I detest snails so leaving em isnt an option. They are all pretty small. Im going to try baiting this weekend.

I would recommend the Striatas (Zebra Loach). Six is a good number. I will tell you that many of the loaches that I have chew or eat broadleaved plants such as Anubias and Swordplants.
