Hello, I wonder if there are any plants that could be with the giant gourami and the pacu. I want them to help with the ammonia and the aesthetic in general.

When I had giant gouramis they eat a head of romaine lettuce per day,
and a friend who kept 3 adult Pacu in a 10,000 gal tank fed bananas, heads of romaine, and anything green
Lots of plants with monster fish, I just want to do it because most Asian keepers only keep them in bare tanks. Guess the most I can do is having plants with carnivorous monster fish that won't eat the plants.

I´m a cichlid and aquatic plant lover myself, and these two often come into conflict
Some vegetarian cichlids eat them, and many carnivorous cichlids tend to ust rip them up.
For me aquatic plants serve a dual purpose, beside their aesthetic value, their ability to use nitrate is a main draw.
So I use planted sumps to fill both aesthetic and nitrate detoxification
My 180 gal cichlid tank is filter with a 125 gal heavily plant sump

When living in the states I did the same thing.
For every 2 or 3 cichlid tanks, I´d employ a large heavly planted sump

In most cases because I would only keep a pair of cichlids per 6 ft tank, a planted sump like the one below, could easily handle the nitrates porduced in 3 or 4 cichlid tanks, reducing concentration to below 5 ppm.
