i put some in my 30 gallon and shortly thereafter the fish broke out with ich.

however the same day i added some fish from a LFS....

but i need to know its not the pipe because i plan to use it as a pleco cave

Any PVC should be tank safe. I always wash it first, in case the mold release or other grime is on it.

i would bet my life the LFS fish are the cause. as im sure you know, fish from many LFS are breeding grounds for diseases

General rule, always quarantine your new arrivals. Now back on to pvc, I always use pvc piping for a bichirs and plecos. I soak them for a few hours and give them a good scrub before I put them in my tanks.

luckily this is really just a growout/quarantine tank for the time being.

I would bet his life on it too...

Sorry, I had to :-P

Ick is a parasitic infection... PVC cannot act as a host for parasites...
