is there any reason why Porcelain tiles would not be a safe substrate?

I was going to use granite tiles for the substrate in my 210 but i have just located some porcelain tiles that are black and a lot cheaper than the granite.

Will this change my water chemistry?

Porcelain or ceramic? I have ceramic tile in my pond with no problems. Not sure on Porcelain.

You could always set the tiles a ten gallon or something and monitor the parameters for a week.

I have ceramic in with my Jaguar pond. It has been in there since march and I have not noticed any water changes or issues. Sounds like porcelain is just a higher grade or better quality so I would not be concerned. There are a lot of people that have ceramic with no issues.
