2 years ago... my brother's friend, apparently an FH breeder :wall: , came over with a 2" FH in a plastic bag to give to my brother. His friend simply placed the FH in our tiny tank (probably less than 3 gallons) with our 2 goldfish. My mom, who doesn't know s**t, took care of it. I didn't care for the fish at the time and did not know anything about FH's. It obviously killed the goldfish. He was kept in a 3 gallon tank :(. I took the FH once I started to know a little more about their nature and progressively increased his tank size. He is only in a 20 gallon at the moment and is only 4-5". I keep the water crystal clean and clear at 83-84 deg.

So is there any way to help this poor guy's health in addition to upgrading to a bigger tank? Even in the slightest way...? I know he probably won't grow to his adult size but I just want to give him the best care in his condition.

Diets? Types of food? Keeping 'em company with other fish? Using the mirror method?...

I have no idea. The dude just dumped him in the tank. I'll take a picture of him tomorrow. It's 2am haha but... No hump, grey colored, blue patterns. Probably a low quality short body.... unless there was a deformity from being in a small tank. Haha

hahhah, probably a thai silk as u mentioned. but i dont know. xD no hump u said? could be a female. just feed it pellets with good ingredients like spirulina, krill, and vitamins. if u can, feed it some frozen shrimps u can buy from the market (do not feed it feeders, they carry diseases), be sure to clean it properly. and also do water changes about 20%-30% each weekend (which i do), and also clean the filter regularly. :) some hiding places and decorations for it so tht it wont get bored. hahah post some pics of the tank setup as well.

with a 20 gallon you see a big growth spurt im pretty sure that a small tank stunting a fish's growth is a myth unless the fish stays in a small tank you might also look into somtthing with high protein like hikari bio gold plus has 45% protein or a flowerhorn specific food for color or kok size like okiko has one with 51% protein which you might have to order over the internet

I'd upgrade the tank to something he can live his whole life in, at least a 75. You should also start feeding him a good quality pellet, like nls amphilophus formula.
