is there anything i can keep with a flowerhorn? flowerhorns 3in going in a55 growout and i was wondering if theres any tankmate i could give him, hed eventually be upgrade to atleast a 75 maybe a 90. its going to be my dads and hes wondering if theres anything else he can keep with it

the filter and decorations!
depend on the FH personality! most are aggressive, but some can be keep with other fish. Fish that a lot bigger than them is the choise!

what about birchirs?

i do not reccomend any tank mate exept parrots and pleco untill you get in the 125 gal and up.

ok cool thanks

Depends on introduction......You may be limited since your flowerhorn is the original fish and now all the new ones my be viewed as " intruders" My flowerhorn lives with discus, silver dollars, cons, parrot, tire track eel, pleco, severums and probably a few i am forgetting.....the only fish he has killed was a turqoise rainbow....when he and my female spawned. All the other fish know to keep their distance. But this is also in a 180g. For you, I would say tinfoil barbs, dollars, and severums larger than your FH

you think a tingoil barb could be ok?

parrot, maybe. Pleco, sot sure, I have a 4 inches king kamfa before and it almost kill my 20 inches Pleco after 1 night together!

Until you get a bigger tank, nothing. A pleco if you're lucky.

Tinfoil barbs in a 55 gallon.. really? Get a 150+ and you will have a ton of options.

gotcha... if it were up to me and i had the finances id deff get a tank for this guy around 150 and keep him in that.... but like i said its going to my dad and well hes got the money for it, but seeing as hes just getting into the hobby hes a littl timid about getting a large tank. i think once the FH grows to size in his 55 ill have no problem talking him into getting something like a 220, then maybe he can get a tank mate... what about rays with a FH not in the 55 but eventually in a larger tank. i saw a video of a guy who had 1 FH and about 5 rays in a 220.
