I caught two of these little guys and I believe they're baby warmouth. At first look they look like bluegill to me but I noticed a purple sheen to them instead of blue sheen as well as a larger mouth so I decided to keep them. They seem to be juvenile warmouth but I was wondering if anyone could confirm this for me. Thanks.

I cant tell because their not fully formed yet, but theyre definately either warmouths or shadowbass; very cool looking little fish either way

really hard to tell at this size... though i will say that most of the baby bluegill i've found that size didn't have such big eyes. I think there is a chance at a warmouth or something similar, i would grow him out either way to find out!

I keep rock bass from my local creeks and they have six anal fin spines where a warmouth will have only three. The shaddow will have six as well I think. Great fish that will get over their shyness quickly if you start them young and give them a floating structure to hide under. Freeze dried blood worms are a staple for mine. Definitely easy to train when they are little.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks guys. I caught a few more bigger ones and they are confirmed warmouth. I'm gonna grow them out with my bluegill. The bigger one I have has adapted to the tank very quickly and already ate a baby pleco, and meal worms within two days. Most of the wild fish I've had take at least 6 or 7 days to accept food.
