I'm thinking about adding a 9 inch wolf fish to my 200 gallon tank. I currently own a 8" Brycon dentex, 9 inch pike cichlid, 12 inch large mouth bass, and a musk turtle. All except the turtle are aggressive and fight occasionally but no damage is done. Would the wolf kill any of these fish? If so, alternatives to the wolf would be an odoe pike or a fahaka puffer fish.

I'd say the wolf would probably be the most aggressive in this situation, but if he goes in with all your others, I don't think any of them would mess with the wolf. Itd all depend on the wolf fish's temperament.

Hmm.. Okay cool. The thing is, I'm almost sure that my fish will attack it at first until they realize it's a bad idea. They've killed an 8" jaguar cichlid, 9 inch yellowtail barracuda, 7 inch armatus, and my bass recently ate my 9 inch bichir. So I'm trying to fin something that won't be killed but also won't be too aggressive and kill everything in the tank. it's been hard so far. I'll give the wolf fish a go and let you all know how it turns out

From what I've heard the common wolf is the most aggressive. Go with a red or rainbow wolf and make sure you have a tight cover. I just got a common wolf, and had it temporarily with my turtle and pleco (cause they weren't likely to become lunch). The water level was well below the top of the tank and the wolf still was able to jump out. Not only that but they can breath air so when I found him he was all the way down the hall, dried up pretty bad but still breathing! He didn't make it unfortunately.

Really? I thought the aimara was. Either way, from what you saw of your wolf; do you think it would live well with other aggressive fish of similar size?

I thought you were talking about a Hipolitus Malabarpus (I know the spelling is incorrect). If that is it I would say no. If you are talking Dovi I say give it a try.
