i just noticed one of my three BPs has a meaty thingy hanging! Is about 1/2 a cm long. It is part of the fish, not a paracite or growth. Is this a reproductive part? Male or female? I've never seen one of these before.

sorry for the bad shots, damn thing wouldnt hold still

No pee pee... that BP is a female and that's her tube, she's ready to lay some eggs..

I want to narrow it down to 2 and would prefer to get rid of a male. If she's hanging around and rubbing against another BP, would that indicate its a male?

More that likely she's courting him to be a new daddy..:naughty: But just so you know (if you don't) alot of BP's aren't fertile..

yes, i know males shoot blanks. I just want 2 and i dont want them guarding half the tank for a nest thats not happening.

The problem is they will still go through all the normal nesting ritual but you won't have any fry out of it.. I have a BP in my tank and she pushes my 12" indo around the tank when she's ready to lay eggs. So you might still have some aggression in your tank.

not a pee pee, but looks more like wooooo hoooooo

WOW. You have a breeding Pear. Just kidding.
Your right though. It is a female, she is ready to spawn, and parrots do spawn very often.
