Is this a convict parrot?

I thought this fish would turn orange, but I have had him four months and no color change. He has grown is over 3 inches now. His gravel is black which might encourage him to stay dark, but his best buddy is a bright orange parrot. If anything he has gotten darker. Has anyone ever bought one and grown one out? I hope he stays this way.

I still has an unfaded blood parrot that never fades and I've had him since I purchased him back in 2004 & he was already adult....so I don't know how old he is. Not all blood parrots will fade the colors away.

Wow thats fascinating I raised blood parrots for many years and I have never seen one not fade... the max I have seen never fading is 5-6 inches, then they faded.

But no, theres no reason to think thats a convict cross, the bars are normal.
