Is this a convict?

It was in a tank with convicts and Red Devils. In person it's fins look more red, and has more of a pinkish over tone on the body.

In a tank with both red devil's and convicts, it wouldn't surprise me for a second if it was a "red convict" if ya pick up what I'm putting down man.

Hell, my LFS has a whole tank full multiple different midevil hybrid juvies and they all look similar to that. Tomorrow when I'm down that way, I'll snap a picture of one of them to show my point.

Or, could just be an off colored convict.

Hmm, mouth shape and body shape look kind of odd for a convict to me. Might be a pure convict, might be a hybrid. Red devil x convict would be plausible

Think its a convict. The only time will tell once it grows out.
But there is a lot of variation with a. nigrofasiata. For years I thought that most colorful convicts were HRP hybrids. But now I not so sure since I've seen a lot of pics of nigrofasiata.

Okay thanks for the help! I never knew they varied so much, after looking at all the different slight variations all the convicts can have I think it might be put on my list of favorites!

I really never gave it a thought until recently. I noticed there is a lot of variation in a. siquia, a close relative.
In any case keep us updated. I would love to see how this fish turns out.

A lot of the convicts close relative look pretty similar, I'm starting to wonder how many of the "convicts" that are sold are hybrids with their close relatives?
