Agreed. The circle on the tail should only be on the top half. In the pic its on the entire tail. Also the first bar after the gills should form a Y or 4 shape. These are the best ways to tell. The Mayan's bars never intersect.
mayan cichlid but i can see how it could throw you off because it does look as if it has the y bar on the front like festae and usually at that size mayans are still grey with not much color. i would hold on to that mayan i think it will come out very nice.
