Is This A Good Idea?

I have a 40g aquarium with:

2x Jewel Cichlid (NOT BREEDING PAIR) 4" and 3.5"
1x Senegal Bichir 4.5"

I Want A Convict.
HE/SHE IS 3.5 INCHES!
WOULD A SINGLE CONVICT WORK???

When they get to big/fight, I will move the bichir/convict into a 300 gallon. (to small right now)

If the convict is a male, not too long. A year, maybe. lots o' conflict. if its a female, probably longer.

I beg differ. I think it will work; but as with everything, your mileage will vary with the individual fish.
