Is this a good light

should support most medium light plants including most mosses.

Just replace the bulb once you get it. a 50/50 bulbs won't do much for freshwater plants. Get a bulb between the ranges of 5500-10000 kelvins try aiming for a 6500k or 6700k.

depending on the other kind of plants and growth you want, you may want to try a diy co2 so you don't get a algae outbreak

I just bought the 48" version of that with the the 6700K bulbs, I did my research and I am very satisfied by my purchase especially for the price!

Ditto on Dudey's post, see if you can find a version of that fixture with the dual 6700K lamps. btw the lamps that were included are from Odyssea if that helps.

this is the tank under the 48" light. I have been running it for over a month and have noticed an improvement. the plants are growing faster, and the algae is not growing as much because the plants outcompete the algae for the nutrients

the only thing about it is that it has a particular blue/greenish tint to the light.

otherwise im still very happy with my purchase.

do you have any pics of it lighting your tank?

the first picture is my 56 gallon with a 24'' Coralife 28W 10,000K.

the second picture is my 15 gallon planted with a 24'' Coralife 65W 6,700K.

i recommend 6,700K for growing plants. however, moss doesn't need anything specific, it doesn't even need a lot of light.. ;)
