It was sold to me as an unfaded Red Texas, but the folks in the Hybrid forum said it looks like it could actually be a carpinti.

well, it BETTER be a unfaded Red Texas cuz we pay about $3 each for Cyannoguttatum or Carpintis.

Any fish that size in my local lfs would be pushing $40+ but yeah. It's a beautiful fish and has a great personality so I can't say I would regret the purchase, but..

Lol, you must shop at the same lfs I do. I am not very good with fish id, but that fish looks hybrid to me. Looks to have a red tint especially in the fins from the pics.
 
It's defiantly a hybrid. I wouldn't regret the $75 personally. It's a nice looking fish

The fins are almost a purple/maroon color.
