is this a male mota?

got a wild caught pair of these in earlier this year and one arrived dead and I never knew which one. it was a tad smaller so I just assumed female but again I am unsure. so here is the best pic of the one I have left. he always hides it has as long as I have had it. its about 7.5-8"

I was going to say it looked female. Check the anal fin, tail fin, cheek plates. If its a male all of these should be covered in spots. If there is minimal spots or no spots its probably female.

thanks, she is really timid and always has been. she is healthy and been growing great but never any aggression if anything she hides from anything that gets near her. for past few weeks she has been in her own tank just so she doesnt hide constantly so I can actually see her.
 
jtrotter and duckman were did you get those mota's? i now rapps has them but i over looked them as they didnt look that good in the pics i found but these look nice and i have a 65 so i could still get one....nice motas
