I know it's a crappy picture but can you tell if it's a male of female dovii

Not sure but I would have to guess female because there is no indication of a forehead hump and the fish is quite rounded... Females tend to be a little more well rounded then males... But to tell for sure I would need to vent check....

looks like a juvenile male to me. it should start developing spots and greenish blue spangles on its face and fins.

Picture is a little blurry to tell with the fins but I'm still gonna have to go with my female guess because it look to me like the fish is atleast 6inches long and the color, there would be atleast some color in it at that size and fish in that picture clearly has little color which is common for females but then again it could be the lighting and the picture probably did the fish no justice... So a vent would be the only sure way!!!

The forehead looks too sloped to me for it to be a female.

Look for brown spekles along the back. If It's a male you will be able to tell soon. Plus there will be a blue sheen on the cheeks. I have been breeding and selling Dovii for about 2 years now. Plus the females will have no breaks in the center black band. Where makes at a young age will start to break up.
