I went to fish store today and there was a fish in a 5 gallon bucket on the floor that caught my eye.
I asked what he was and the girl said she wasn't 100% sure as they just took it in on trade. She said she thought the previous owner said Cuban cichlid
I must have stared into that bucket for 20 min thinking this can't be a 8" black nasty.
I told her I would take him without even asking the price. $25 btw.
I'm so excited because I can't believe anyone would trade one of these in at this size. I just got home and acclimated him too his new home.
I've never owned one before and rarely see them in the fish stores around here. I've always read that they're notoriously slow growers which has always deterred me from buying a small one when I did see them from time to time.
Please alleviate my anxiety and tell me it's black nasty and not some Cuban hybrid.
I have him in a 125 with some african mbunas, please don't hate.
