Doesn't look like mine as you can see if you look in my profile. I think many of them vary as far as colors are concerned though. The thing with Dempseys is they will often cross breed. A buddy of mine had fry between his convict and dempsey. This obviously results in different traits. Although I have had a JD for awhile I'm not an expert so hopefully someone else can give you a specific answer to you question. Good luck!

Yeah, it looks like there is a bit of a convict to it.

PufferGirl your jack is a large male with full color (that looks awesome buy the way) and the one in the picture (completely a normal Jack Dempsey) is a young female... maybe only 2-3 inches!!!! And will not get blue speckles all over its body like the male does... The majority of the females color is in her face on her cheeks!!!

Wow.... Didn't realize that they would look so different! Gothyc isn't the only one learning something on his thread!!! Every time I'm on here I learn something new..... Maybe I need to get my JD a girlfriend.....

LOL!!! I'm sure he would like that!!!

Have him alone in a 45 gal cause he doesn't play nice...... If I would want to get him a "girlfriend" would I have to upgrade and to what?

looks like a nice young dempsey to me.And puffergirl Id go with a 75 or 90 for a breeding pair of jacks
