A friend of mine called and asked if I could rehome two of her fish. One is a very large common Pleco and the other is what looks to me as a Red Devil.

She bought this fish with the "Mixed African Cichlids" at Petsmart. It has gotten much bigger much faster than her other african cichlids. I have a 150 gallon almost ready for fish, but wanted to do some research on the fish before I got it.

As you can see from the pictures it has two little black dots on its top fin, and is very aggressive towards the rest of the tank and even her when she trys to feed.

Is this a Red Devil that just got stuck in the wrong tank? Or is this somthing else? Thanks

Looks like a red devil to me. They usually have black on them when they are young. They will go away as they get older.

Looks red devil, but you never know how pure it is when you get a red devil or midas from petsmart. I would classify it as a hybrid of the two since you cannot prove its a true red devil.

my modas has black like that and its f2

Red devil/midas or a mix of two.

Agressive. Best get it now and mix with similar sized fish like Jags and JDs; maybe s shoal of silver dollars as dither hope you can find a compatible community.
