Picked this guy up a couple days ago, thinking it was a your typical midevil. He was in a tiny tank at floor level so didn't look to closely at him as I just had to have him . Now I have him at home & can look at him properly the first thing that came to mind was Rose Queen. Help me out please people.IMG_0237.JPG IMG_0242.JPG IMG_0237.JPG IMG_0242.JPG IMG_0237.JPG IMG_0242.JPG

What is a Rose Queen? Is it a specific type of hybrid, or a marketing gimmick like "Royal Green Terror"?

Some say Red Devil or Midas x Synspilium, who knows but they are supposedly a known hybrid.

I agree with RD on Midevil. To me, it definitely looks more like a Midevil then a Rose Queen. Although I know Rose Queens are thought to be a hybrid of Amphilophus. Rose Queens are a hybrid known for the bright red/purple color, not so much orange, and are occasionally bred with Flowerhorns and Herichthys Carpintis for that reason.

Yes, I believe Midas x Synspilium is the foundation for Rose Queen. The beak on this fish could be a deformity from fighting, or even a birth defect. Hard to say, but not a rose queen.

Thanks for your help guys. I have to say that it is the first midevil i have seen here in Oz, at least in my part of the woods. There are red devils everywhere here & they look just like devils but i have never seen Midas let alone MiDevil till now. The beak on this guy is surely a deformity as i can't see any fight scarring. What shame, head on this guy is stunning but side profile is just so wrong, back to the shop with him.
