Been offered this as a SB but I'm not sure how to I'd, it does look quite a lot shorter than the 1 I had before did at that size but not sure if it's a true SB or just a runt??

The lump in it's throat is because it was fed so it would come out of hiding

Not too me, if it were all three top fins would be pretty much touching mate... I had one for a while but sold him too wetsock after I got the wyckii. .. they still get really big and need massive 1000g+ aquariums, mate.... will a still grow fast get a massive girth and eat everything. Ive grown a few rtc and sold them, eventually the reality kicks in and its pond or sell... a smal red tail is just wishful thinking.

Is that the way to tell? I wouldn't be to gutted if it wasn't because I would just get the Leiarius Pictus like I was planning but I couldn't pass up a SB, you say they need 1000+g for a SB? I'm sure I have seen threads on here with people keeping them in 400g's. I would research it more before committing anyway

Sb can will hit 2.5 feet plus mate and will get a massive head thus be capable of eating massive prey. much like micro pigs you never know what your going to end up with, are they asking short bodied money? Where is it from fella, reputable seller? Im not sure if there are even any line bred sb, more likely lucky natural deformitys no?

Yea I know that but I was going to keep it in the 4x8 tank I've been planning, it's more than a normal RTC Would cost. It's from someone I know that works for a chain store and isn't supposed to order stuff like this so I can't really say but he said it was on the order list and was the first time it ever had been so he got it and took it home to sell, he has always been honest before but i don't know if I trust it or not. Yea I think it's a deformity and not a breeding trait.

I will have a think about it, I will keep you posted
