I'll probably overcrowd my tank pretty badly
300 gallons.

Silver Aro
Jar (Yes I am aware of the risk)
CK (just died, getting another next week)
maybe 3-5 Dats (I have one now)
Ornate
Sen
Endli
giant goramy (maybe)
2 kissing gouramis
3 African knifes
2 BGK
Crenichichla (Menazesu(?)
Crenichichla Xingu 1 (possibly coming next week)
2 archers

They are currently pretty small, but I know they will grow..

I'm thinking this way, even though people say 240-300g's are big enough for Jar, Silver, CK I have to disagree.. so I'm thinking since I'll have to build something along the lines of 10-12' X 4' X 3' within the coming 5 years to fit those guys comfortably the others will fit aswell, if I would run out of money or decide to leave the hobby I will somehow have to get rid of the biggest guys anyways.. (I have no aggression what so ever right now, and some are big enough to eat some of the others)

do you guys see my point? cause even if the Jar goes nuts I will have a spare 300 when I finnish my DIY.. Is this irresponsible or just a sudden realisation that I have totally lost my soul to a couple of fish?? :P

I would cut out the archers and the knives. I see them getting mauled in that tank.

puh.. the man with the all-confusing avatar has spoken..

mm.. very true.. The thought struck me aswell, I have a weather loach and an albino clawed frog aswell, also the sen might get (b)eaten up..

I have a spare 80 gallon for the little guys.. so you are absolutely right.. but that is not the question (in a respectful manor) am I right or wrong? If I get enough space for the jar, silver and CK I could probably fit pretty much whatever I like with them?

I know this question is hard to define..

but take Johnptc for example.. (sorry for any insult john)

John; HMMMMM, it would be cool to have an Arapaima gigas! well what the hell, lets do that! *taking a walk to the lfs thinking "hmm, ill need about 10 000 + gallons. check, arapaima, check. but what now?

moral of the story, if you have the space for an arapaima you could basically fit whatever other fish you would like since the pima wont be everywhere in the tank at the same time.

IMO that is just to much of a mix, I think it would be better to keep a few smaller tanks and organize the stocks a little better then to have one big tank with an ever bigger mess of fish IMO....
