Hey guys,

I had this pike cichlid come to me today and it's very pretty:drool:

Ive tried to ID using the stickies rather than being a pain and just posting "ID Please?"...

I think its a Xingu 1 but I'm really not sure....

The guy I got it off said normally it's bright orange with dark stripes.

All he ever fed it was bloodworm - I never thought that could be possible to maintain fish on bloodworm.

Here's the pics

I think so. P_P would be able to tell you for sure.

The colors that the guy described are juvi. color forms.

Like mine:

The guy meant when less stressed - you can see the faint vertical bands down the body in the previous pics. I just wasn't sure whether the colours he described were relevant for ID :)

Not as much with adult coloration. Xingu I lose the orange for a drab olive body color when they reach maturity.

I would say at about that size! LOL. No, seriously, that's about the right size for that fish to change over to adult coloration.

Only males become olive green. The females get an intense red belly and dark ends, about what yours is starting to look like. Luckily you got a female, so she is just going to keep getting better and better...;)

Yes, it is xingu I. ;)

She is Simply Sexy! Nice Fish.

I was keeping one for a while and it was one of the most beautiful fish I had ever seen. Bright red belly, and cadual fin, about as thick as an arm. Made me want to buy a group of young ones and grow out a pair.
