Ok, this was a normal Hedera Ivy back on Jan 2011. However either due to lack of watering or sunshine(oops), it started dying. I have continued to water it and it's been like this for the last 13-14 months. I know it's really not alive but I'm not convinced it's fully dead(I also know it will never return to what it was).

If you look at the leaves they still have green in them. If they were really dead...they would turn brown.

Note:The darker soil is where I just watered

Thoughts?

A good way to tell if it's dead is if the leaves fall apart when crunched. Like an old leaf from a tree that is brown and has fallen off will crunch into pieces. If it crunches, it's dead. It just died with a little bit of green on them maybe. Like you said it does still have green on the leaves. Always keep green leaves on a dying plant, never pull off light green leaves or damaged leaves unless their brown. The leaves will still photosynthesize regardless unless actually brown.

I've had terrible tomato plants before that were very light green, but after some care and attention it made a come back. Those leaves look really dry though. It could have just dessicated (if that's the word) from no water instead of wilting and dying like say a tomato plant for example.

it's dead... sometimes a plant will keep a little tinge of green if it dried out fast enough... i think it dried out in a way as to preserve it. keep it if you like, but it is dead...

I have officially 'killed' the Zombie plant now. I slipped on watering it one time and noticed the 'slightly green leaves' turned more brown. I followed up with watering it, however nearly a week later the soil is still wet(Meaning the plant is not absorbing it anymore).
