that is NOT marulioides.

I dont know if aurolineatus is a valid name now, but i bought a channa that was sold as aurolineatus, and it looks exactly like yours!

I have keept (and keep) a few marulioides, they never look like that.
to me they are just the ''regular'' cobra snakehead, Channa marulia. (but im no expert)

personally i would say they tail spot is no where near bright enough for marulis

and i think the head is too blunt also , i have seen plenty of marulioides that have not developed flowers useally when kept a higher ph levels , and marulia normally have more bands

aurolineatus is still only a Synonym of marulia and not a vaild species name , although i do agree that braveheartcalifs fish in the "show your snakeheads" thread is indeed a marulia of the type some people do refer to as aurolineatus ,but think this one is differant , but i could certainly be wrong

the only true way to tell is to examaine the teeth structure as fin and ray counts overlap for both species , below is the teeth structure of marulioides ,marulia complex all have teeth totally diferant more like a micro and can useally be seen when the fish yawns ect. .

as you can see in the picture the front of the mouth is filled with very small rounded teeth , that resemble course sandpaper , the teeth in maruila are totally diferant - not the best pic but you need three hands for shots like this

cheers col

I think this fish is common cobra SH in Thailand, not marulioides , u call marulia but I call aurolineatus to split it from India marulia.
