Ideally, make it as short as is practical, which will also take some of thebend out of it, and you'll get a better flow rate.

Realistically, you won't be able to tell any difference from making that hose 1' shorter.

No real problem.

Since the intake hose is supplying the sump via gravity the length of that hose is inconsequential! I would leave it as is so you have some room to move the top plate of the sump around when maintaining the sump.

If it were a sealed system like a canister filter the extra length could adversely affect the total gpm of the filter... but it will not with a sump.

P.S. if the sump is drying out and the tank is overflowing you do not have enough supply to the sump water volume which that hose could affect... but you would really have bigger problems than the length of the hose if the supply to sump volume is that close to the edge.
