hey there guys today is the 3rd day of my green aro in my tank... im doin a waterchange right now

the has started to take food today... i realized that he doesnt like chicken heart, but he took a bit of shrimp alright

i returned home just about now and i threw in some more shrimp but its like he has trouble swallowing it. he keeps chuwing and after the 4th piece which i had cut very small to ease the eating. he refused to take anymore.

when he was in the lfs he had been fed mollies so he doesnt have problem swallowing big food. what do you guys think? he also refuses to eat the chicken heart

sounds like he is full. New arows can be picky and go on hunger strikes, but if he ate yesterday, he will probably eat again soon. My arow didn't eat for 2 weeks before he took his first food. Don't worry

oh ok then... ill just try keeping the water quality on top. my new checking kit arrives today :D

if your water quality is pristine, the temperature is warm, and he eats every now and then, there is no reason for him to ever get sick. Good luck!

humm... what are the exact
optimum water params for asian aros? except the 0 ammonia?

I have never kept them (illegal in the US), but I imagine they are the following...

0 ammonia
0 nitrite
lowest nitrate readings your test kit will give you
79-83F water temp
soft water with pH in the 6ish range

I'm no expert though

28 celcius is PERFECT

ok... i checked the water...
PH 6.5
nitrite and ammonia 0

nitrate 7mg

temp 28 celcius

but my aro still refuses the shrimp, he takes it in but then goes on like chewing it then lets it out a couple times and finally gives up. what do you guys think? is he just being picky? my jar did this too with the shrimp but he ate fine when he was starved for couple days...
