So about two months ago, I picked up a breeding pair of Gold Saum GT's. Once in my tank, the male got all kinds of aggressive on the female. So much so that she jumped out and died.

Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago. Now I have a 150 gal tank (huge upgrade from my 60) and my male GT loves the room. I finally found a female around the same size about a week ago and introduced her to the male.

At first he was all up on her getting all kinds of jiggy. Doing the shake and all that, but the female was having none of it. It came to a point during the past week where he just stopped doing the shake and just harassed her like crazy. I thought I was going to have to separate them... until today.

I come home from work and see some of the tank mates all up in the corners of the tank. I see there has been a ton of digging as well. Then I notice my female GT is all dark except for the green on her face. They look all glowing. The male.... well the male is STRIKING!! FREAKIN A!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM LOOK SO COLORFULL.

Well anyway, I see the female digging a lot in the corner and the male chasing away anyone that comes close. The female does not run from the male anymore. She actually flares her gills right back at him. She even give him a gental nip on his side. Nothing violent. They both swim in swirls and do the jiggy shake thing they do.

Are these signs of a match?

Does this sound like I may be seeing some eggs in the future?

Im crossing my fingers. :woot:

Thats pretty much what mine did when the bred. They would flare their gills and look like they were kissing. And the female got really dark, the coolest I'd ever seen her look

Well, I guess you were right! I found this morning that "Mama" is now protecting a part of my tank that has a couple rocks with a gang of eggs attatched to them.
