Is this cancer on my midas?

Hi all my midas has a growth on his tail, it is growing on the rays on his tail and is red and clear, it protrudes on about 6mm and has a diameter of about 5mm...

I netted him about a fortnight ago and scrapped it off with a steralized razor blade but it grew back... if this is going to spread im tempted to remove the top 5-6 tail rays and hope they grow back... as he is 5 im not so sure they will but better than losing him!

I don't think it's cancer. Net the fish and put a drop of iodine on the spot, see what that does.
