Wow! Didn't realized they get that big:eek: Which gets bigger then...C. Argus or C. Mircopeltes?

Hi,

"C.Micropeltes - Size: To 1 m and weight of over 20 kg (Roberts, 1989; Lee and Ng, 1991; Talwar and Jhingran, 1992). Peter Ng (personal commun., 2003) noted that this snakehead is known to reach a length of 1.5 m."

"C.Argus - Size: To 85 cm (Okada, 1960), although Nina Bogutskaya (personal commun., 2002) reported seeing captured specimens in Russia approaching 1.5 m total length."

Argus is the bulkier of the 2 though.;)

Some argus are dark some have a pattern.

I almost caught one a few weeks back it was over 2' in a pit under a rooted
tree. Last year I hooked a giant argus around 3', hook didn't set. I've heard
of a 4 footer with head like a basketball.

I think they grow bigger here in the south, then the cold waters.

thanks everyone for the positive ID. as some of ya'll might of heard, 150 argus were found in MD in a puddle last week. people are freaking out.
