Hi MFKers,
I have a 5'x1.5'x2' tank (approx 120 gallons). I have been planning this setup for a long time, nearly a year and have finally decided on this combination of fish that I think would be good. Im setting up a lake malawi tank. Please see the Stocking list and let me know if its feasible.
1. Labidochromis Caeruleus (yellow lab), around 8, (male:female ratio of 1:3
2. Pseudotropheus Acei (Yellow tail acei) 8 (Male: female ratio of 1:3)
3. Cyrtocara moorii (Malawi Blue Dolphin) 6 (Male:female ratio of 1:5)
4. Cynotilapia afra - 10 (male : female ratio of 1:4)
5. Pseudotropheus Demasoni - 8 (male:female ratio of 1:4)
I have the following queries :
A) Is this stocking list compatible? I intend to have a rock and sand setup with around 1/3 of the tank dedicated to rocky areas.
B) Is the quantity and ratio alright? The Moorii that I plan on getting are quite large, ranging from 3-6 inches each.
C) From what I have read here and on other forums and books, these are relatively less aggressive and less demanding species and therefore easy for the beginner to keep. Is my information corect?
D) Are there any special requirements for a specific species that I need to keep in mind?
E) For filteration I am planning to use an Eheim 2327 and an Eheim 2217, is it sufficient? I also have a couple of HOB filters that I could add.
It would be great if I could get some advice from the experts regarding these and other aspects that you deem important. This is my first cichlid setup and therefore any help would be appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Vipul
