no it's just a low grade captive bred endli.

I just got him, he was on white sand eith a blue background tank. He needs to grow a bit in here before being moved into the official bichir tank, hopefully he will get a bit darker.

There is no light or dark phase of endli or any bichir. Colouration is dependent on stress, Collection point, substrate, background ,lighting and decor

Hes starting to darken up a bit already. Hes quite an active one always coming up to the glass so its nice. Im new to the bichirs so I do not know how to id a low quality bichir, I do not know if this is truly the case or just a lighter bichir but hes got a good personality and thats what i have come to enjoy about these guys. But a question on that, our some bichirs being overbreed to the point of causing low quality or health problems?

the further the bichir is removed from the wild and having a limited genetic pool by in-breeding will cause most of the farmed bichirs to develop deformities such as weird variations on markings, smaller overall size, faded colors

I put him in a smaller quarantine tank for after bringing him home I noticed he has some cloudiness in his eyes but I think hes already getting darker. You may be able to see the cloud specks in his eyes
