just got this coral was told its a cup coral but it looks dead to me

Looks like it has no soft tissue and covered in coraline - been dead for awhile.

ok so i talked to a buddy of mine and he informed me that this type of cup grows like this. where it has verry tiny polips that grow on outside and the inside is dead. some type of rare encrusting cup...
