It's possible over time that it will heal and go back to normal but it could also be permanently damaged. The wound looks to be pretty deep so it would probably be a 50/50 chance.

If you have a spare empty tank I would say go for it. Even if it doesn't completely heal, it would still be better off living alone then being picked apart by tank mates.

Get the Cichlid out If you haven't done so treat with salt so area doesn't get infected. Keep water clean.
