hey there guys i've recently got a freshwater stonefish , like 15cms long, and he's in with my green and they dont seem to bother at all but since the stones have venomous fins... how threatful can he be for my aro?
Personally if it's large, I don't think you'd have a problem. Like likestofish said, only way the aro could get hurt if he wanted to eat it. I help take care of my uncles saltwater tank and he has a 7-8'' lionfish in there. It likes to hide in a cave where all the other fish like to swim through and they get dangerously close to its long spines, but never had a problem. It's been there for over 1 year and no poisonings. Besides aren't stonefish bottom dwellers? Your aro should be out of its reach anyway, and even if its just passing by the bottom, there shouldn't be a problem. Truthfully the only one you need to worry about is yourself. Don't wanna accidentally touch that baby while you're cleaning the tank. Good Luck!
It's not a real stonefish....it's Batrachus trispinosus I presume? They are no more venomous than a catfish...a real Synanceia sp stonefish is deadly, but is also fully marine.
I've seen them kept in slightly brackish water, but also softwater S.A. tanks. I think they have a wide potential range, but overall they are meant for freshwater.
