Yes, dovii. The green sheen on the the anal fin and black splotches give it away. It has a nice set of teeth already.

As far as sexing this individual, it may be too young to do so, but an expert may be able to tell you.

the reason the guy at the shop said it was a male was it had blue spots on it face which females dont get ( you cant see them in pics they look yellow for some reason) is what he said true

I havent found that to be true (blue spots in the face), but spots in the unpaired fins is a pretty good indicator of a male. Glad to see you FINALLY got what you have been wanting...it looks male to me but still too little to tell accurately from just viewing it in pics (for me anyways).

You can't tell by coloring and patterns on gill plates at that size. Females can get a lot of color on the fins, mouth and gill plats. As VRWC stated the spotting is the best way. At that size though it can still be tricky. The coloring is a sure thing by 5" or so by that time there should be no doubt anyway. There is a small amount of spotting but females can get a small amount also. I would lean towards a female....time will tell.

he/she has lots of spots on the unpaired fins which the pics dont show to well ill try and get some better pics of the fins to see if you dudes can sex it from what you guys are saying i think its male but i need to be sure so i can start hunting for the opposite sex as they will be getting there own tank when they get a little bigger.thanks for all the help so far. pics will follow soon
