Is this driftwood safe?

i found this piece on shore dried out and brittle can't tell what kind of wood it is im in Michigan no bark if I soak it a couple weeks and boil it will it be safe for aquarium use?

Not sure if it will ever sink for you. Which is why I would not mess with it.

Boiling it will probably kill everything living on it, but since you do not know the wood species, there is no way to really know if the wood is safe. It is probably safe though. but I am not an expert.
