Hoovering south of the ham
I just bought an aro tonight. I am not sure what kind. I usually never buy anything unless I'm sure, but after two or three drinks and my wife begging, I have one. I can't upload pictures yet, I've just reloaded windows and I don't have the program to resize. So, the bottom fin is half the legnth of the body and there is a black dot just behind the gill plate. There is also a little red swipe behind the black dot. It's about 3in maybe 4. The is some pink or red in the body, but it's a juvi. Anyone care to guess what kind it is... off this vague description?

Could be a young jar though normally they are more silver than pink. Is its caudal, anal, and dorsal fins long flowing or short rounded ones?

Does it look like one of these two? (both pics were taken by ermgravy)

Silver

Jardini

Judging by the description you provide though your most likely right it does sound like a silver. As it gets older the pink will start to turn more silver and the black spot behind the gill cover will disappear.

yep thought it was a silver b/c silvers are the only arows iv seen with spots behind the gills at small size

Use msn paint proggie to resize it -Anne
