do you think a 25gal bag of sal is enough for a 29 gal tank i know its 4 gal less then the tank holds but i figure rocks and sand take up space...it should be ok right...

does this not make sense...i dont have much money so i am wondering if i buy a bag of salt that makes 25gal ( cause i cant afford the 5o right now) of saltwater if that will be likely to setup a 29gal tank...cause the tank has four gal more then the bag can make but with sand and rocks added to the tank i think it should be fine and im looking for verification...

??? lol.

sometimes you get lucky like that, but it does depend a bit on how much rock and sand. a whole bag should be enough but it might be a bit on the low side on the SG readings!!

if you follow the pound per gallon i think you should have little enough water to make up for the lack of salt.
1# of salt per 2 gallons of water
1 pint to a pound
1 cups per pint
1 cup per gallons
should e4qual out if the rock takes up 20% of the tank volume or more, so you should be fine.

i know this may not make sense, but if it helps any i've had a few, so my thinings a little skewed, but i understand the question and i think you're fine for now. but if you need to do a WC you will need more salt.

haha...it made it...water level right below the top black frame of the top of the tank and salinty is between 1.024-1.023...which is a lil high...

ok i lied i didnt end up using the bag salt. no need bag salt i went to the local aquarium (waikiki aquarium) and got there steilized water for free...thats right fo free no mixing nothin. just strolled up asked, they asked if i was a member i said yup and flashed the member id and they said next time make an appointment...bada bing bada boom

how ever the salinty is a lil high at 1.024 from the aquarium but they have many ginormaous tanks and sharks and clams and such so i guess it works for them
